2E3 Carburettor - DG Code 1900cc Waterboxer Engines

This good quality replacement carburettor is designed as a direct alternative to the now obsolete Pierburg 2E3 unit originally fitted to Volkswagen Type 25 / T3 buses with the 1900cc Waterboxer engine using the DG engine code.

The carburettor is responsible for accurately mixing fuel and air before it enters the inlet manifold, ensuring smooth idle, crisp throttle response, and reliable cold and hot starting. On Waterboxer engines, correct carburation is essential for maintaining stable running, preventing flat spots, and achieving proper fuel economy, especially on heavier vehicles such as camper conversions.

This replacement unit closely follows the original Pierburg 2E3 design, making it suitable for restorations, repairs, or keeping a daily-driven T3 on the road when original carburettors are no longer available or serviceable. It is supplied fully assembled and ready to install, using the original inlet manifold and standard linkage layout.

Please note that this carburettor does not come supplied with the throttle body heating element. The mounting hole is blanked off from manufacture but can be drilled and tapped to allow refitting of your original heating element if required. This is particularly useful in colder climates, where throttle body heating helps prevent carb icing.

On vehicles fitted with power steering or air conditioning, minor modifications or adjustments may be required during installation due to clearance around hoses and brackets.

If fitting this carburettor to an automatic model, you will need to retain and transfer the original choke cover from your existing carburettor to ensure correct operation with the automatic gearbox setup.

Important Fitment Notes

• Not compatible with DF engine code vehicles originally fitted with a Solex 34 PICT-5 carburettor, as the inlet manifold design is different

• Designed specifically for 1.9 Waterboxer engines with DG engine code

• Original fuel lines, throttle linkage, and inlet manifold are reused
