Automatic Torque Converter Drive Plate - Type 4 Engines

This replacement torque converter drive plate is designed for all automatic transmission Baywindow buses fitted with Type 4 aircooled engines in 1700cc, 1800cc, and 2000cc form, as well as automatic Type 25 / T3 buses. What the drive plate does and how it works

On automatic transmission vehicles, the torque converter drive plate performs the same role that a flywheel does on manual gearbox models. Instead of providing a friction surface for a clutch, the drive plate bolts directly to the crankshaft and transfers engine rotation to the torque converter, which then drives the automatic gearbox hydraulically.

The drive plate must be perfectly balanced and securely mounted, as it spins at engine speed and is critical to smooth engagement, vibration-free running, and correct torque transfer. A damaged, cracked, or warped plate can cause vibration, noise, poor gear engagement, or even damage to the torque converter and crankshaft.
