Stanford Hall 2019

Sunday, May 5 this year marked the 43rd anniversary of the Stanford Hall VW event. One of the longest running, and most highly respected, UK VW shows. As a result it’s become one of the best attended, too

The Stanford Hall meet has been running since 1976, hence it’s just about as well established as any VW event can be.

Organised by the Leicestershire and Warwickshire Volkswagen Owners’ Club, the event runs like a well-oiled machine. It has earned a reputation for being one of the biggest one-day VW gatherings in the UK.

It includes a huge trade area, arguably the best swap meet of the year and more club displays than any other event. All for the bargain price of just £12 entry.

Though for years it was a staunchly air-cooled concours event. The organisers have moved with the times. As a result now it’s not uncommon to find everything. From Split Window Beetles to Mk2 Golfs, early Audis and even late model Porsche amongst the show cars on the main lawn.

Throw in beautiful surroundings. A great cake shop / café, a small but interesting motorcycle museum and more and more stock and modified Volkswagens every year that goes by.  We wouldn’t miss it for the world.
