Beetle Rear Disc Brake Conversion (4x130 PCD) - 1968-79 (Long Axle)

Upgrade your classic aircooled Volkswagen braking performance with this complete rear brake disc conversion kit. Designed to replace the original drum brake setup, this kit delivers improved stopping power, better heat dissipation, and easier servicing—ideal for both daily drivers and performance builds.

This conversion fits all late swing axle (long axle) and IRS rear suspension setups found on 1968–1972 models. The kit converts the rear from drum brakes to modern disc brakes using a 4×130 stud pattern with 14mm threaded holes, maintaining compatibility with standard late Beetle wheels.

The system works by replacing the original brake drums and shoes with solid brake discs and calipers. When the brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic pressure forces the caliper pistons to clamp the brake pads against the disc, providing more consistent and efficient braking compared to drum systems. This results in reduced brake fade under heavy use and improved pedal feel.

This kit includes everything required to convert one vehicle, including brake discs, calipers, mounting brackets, pads, handbrake cables, and all necessary hardware. Integrated handbrake functionality is retained via the caliper design.

Important Notes:

• Designed for long axle / long spline rear hubs (approx. 67mm spline length)
• Short spline (approx. 50mm) vehicles will require alternative parts
• Handbrake cables supplied (72”) are suitable for Beetle-based applications
• For Volkswagen Type 2 Split Screen conversions using straight axle or IRS setups, original cables will need modification as supplied cables are too short
