Rear EMPI Gas Shock Absorber (Also Link Pin and Bus Front Shock Absorber) - 285mm To 370mm

Upgrade your classic VW’s suspension with this EMPI Gas Charged Performance Shock, engineered to provide superior handling, improved road grip, and long-lasting performance compared to traditional oil-filled shocks. Designed for eye-to-eye mount applications, this shock absorber is compatible with a wide range of aircooled VWs including Beetles, Buses, Ghias, Trekkers, and Buggies.

Thanks to automatic dampening adjustment, these shocks adapt in real-time to varying road conditions:

  • On smooth roads, the shock piston moves freely for a comfortable and controlled ride.

  • On rough or uneven surfaces, the piston compresses more quickly, delivering a firmer response to maintain traction and maximize tire contact with the road.

With a compressed length of 285mm and an extended length of 370mm, these shocks are ideal for both stock-height and lowered vehicles. EMPI’s gas-charged technology minimizes fade under repeated use, providing a consistent and confident driving experience whether you`re cruising or cornering.

Applications include:

  • Front (link pin) and rear suspension on VW Beetle (1949–1965)

  • Front suspension on VW Splitscreen Bus (1950–1967)

  • Front suspension on VW Baywindow Bus (1968–1979)

  • Front/rear use on VW Karmann Ghia (1955–1965)

  • VW Trekker (1968–1983)

  • Off-road and Baja applications using eye-to-eye mounts

Sold individually, so be sure to order two for a complete axle set. These are a good quality upgrade for improved stability, control, and overall ride quality.
