Engle W130 Camshaft - Type 1 Engines

The Engle W130 performance camshaft is designed for racing use only in VW Type 1 aircooled engines, making it one of the most aggressive camshafts in the Engle W-series range. Intended for large-displacement, high-RPM competition engines, the W130 delivers strong top-end power and sustained high-speed performance where maximum airflow and valve lift are critical.

With its long duration and high lift figures, the W130 camshaft significantly shifts the power band upward, sacrificing low-speed drivability in favour of maximum high-RPM output. It is not suitable for normal road use and must be paired with a carefully matched engine specification, including high compression ratios, large valve cylinder heads, twin carburettors or fuel injection, free-flow racing exhaust systems, and a fully uprated valve train.

Manufactured to Engle’s exacting standards, the W130 features precision-ground lobes and proven race profiles that have been used successfully in drag racing, circuit racing, and other motorsport applications. When installed and set up correctly, it offers exceptional performance potential and durability under extreme conditions.

Important Fitment Notes

  • Racing use only – not suitable for street driving

  • Requires an early-style 3-bolt cam gear

  • Compatible with up to 1971-style oil pumps only

  • Camshaft supplied on its own – cam gear is not included

  • A suitable 3-bolt cam gear must be purchased separately (see associated products)
