Engle W125 Camshaft - Type 1 Engines

The Engle W125 performance camshaft is designed for street and racing use in VW Type 1 aircooled engines, particularly those built with large displacement, high-flow cylinder heads, and strong valve train components. While it can be installed in engines based on 1200cc–1600cc platforms, the W125 is best suited to big-bore and stroker engines where higher RPM operation and increased airflow can be fully utilised.

With its aggressive duration and higher lift figures, the W125 delivers a strong mid-range surge and excellent top-end power, making it ideal for fast-road cars, track-focused builds, and competition engines that still see occasional street use. Compared to milder cams, it shifts the power band further up the rev range and demands carefully matched components, including twin carburettors, a free-flow exhaust, increased compression, and upgraded valve springs.

Manufactured to Engle’s exacting standards, the W125 camshaft features precision-ground lobes and proven timing profiles that have made it a long-standing favourite in high-performance and race-oriented aircooled VW engines. Important Fitment Notes

• Requires an early-style 3-bolt cam gear

• Compatible with up to 1971-style oil pumps only

• Camshaft supplied on its own – cam gear is not included

• A suitable 3-bolt cam gear must be purchased separately (see associated products)
