Engle W120 Camshaft - Type 1 Engines

The Engle W120 performance camshaft is designed for street-driven VW Type 1 aircooled engines, particularly those built with larger displacement configurations and supporting performance components. While it can be fitted to engines based on 1200cc to 1600cc units, the W120 truly shines in big-bore and stroker street engines, where its increased duration and lift allow the engine to breathe efficiently at higher RPM.

Compared to milder cams such as the W100 or W110, the W120 shifts the power band upward, providing strong mid-range pull and improved top-end performance while remaining suitable for street use when correctly matched. It is best paired with twin carburettors, a free-flow exhaust, higher compression ratios, and upgraded valve train components, making it a popular choice for fast-road Beetles and other Type 1-powered vehicles with serious performance intent.

Manufactured to Engle’s exacting standards, the W120 camshaft features precision-ground lobes and consistent timing profiles to ensure reliability and long service life. When installed and broken in correctly, it delivers a broad, powerful power band with the classic Engle performance character.
