215mm Custom Type 4 Flywheel (Fit Type 4 Engine In Type 1 Gearbox)

This forged and lightened flywheel is designed for use with a 215mm clutch, making it an ideal solution when fitting a Type 4 or Waterboxer engine to a Type 1 gearbox or a T2 gearbox up to 1975, all without any gearbox clearancing. It also serves as an excellent replacement for standard Type 4 and Waterboxer engines where the original 228mm flywheel is no longer available.

Manufactured from high-strength forged steel, this flywheel combines durability with improved engine response. Weighing approximately 14.5 lbs, it offers a balanced compromise between performance and drivability—improving throttle response and acceleration while retaining enough mass for smooth operation, particularly in heavier vehicles such as Buses and Type 25 models.

A key upgrade over the original 215mm flywheel is the use of 8mm clutch bolt holes, replacing the weaker original 7mm design. This provides increased clamping strength and improved long-term reliability, especially when used with uprated or performance clutch assemblies.
