T4 Front Brake Disc (300mm Vented) - 1997-00

This replacement front brake disc is designed for Volkswagen Transporter T4 Buses built from May 1997 to May 2000, fitted with 16″ wheels from the factory and PR code 1LB. It is suitable for vehicles from chassis number 70W0000001 up to 701000954.

With a 300mm outer diameter and 26mm thickness, this is a vented front brake disc, engineered to cope with the higher braking demands of T4 vans running the factory 16″ brake setup. The vented internal vanes allow air to flow through the disc during rotation, helping to control heat build-up and maintain consistent braking performance under repeated or heavy braking.

The disc is supplied with a protective coating to reduce corrosion during storage and after installation. This coating wears away naturally on the braking surface during normal bedding-in, while continuing to protect the non-contact areas of the disc.

How it works

When braking, the front brake caliper clamps the pads against the rotating disc, converting vehicle speed into heat through friction. The vented design improves cooling efficiency by drawing air through the disc, reducing brake fade and helping extend the service life of both the pads and the disc—particularly important on loaded vans or vehicles used for towing.

Fitting notes & recommended parts

• Wheel fitment: Factory 16″ wheels only

• Recommendation: Always replace front brake discs in pairs to maintain balanced braking

• Additional parts commonly required:

  • Front brake pads to suit 300mm discs

  • Pad fitting kit / anti-rattle springs

  • Caliper carrier bolts (recommended if originals are stretched or corroded)

  • Brake cleaner for correct installation and bedding-in

Professional fitting is advised. New brake pads should always be fitted when replacing discs to ensure safe and effective braking performance.
