T4 Front Brake Caliper (280mm Brake Discs) - Left (ATE)

This front brake caliper is a direct replacement for all Volkswagen Transporter T4 Buses fitted with PR Code 1LU, covering vehicles produced from September 1990 to June 2003.

Designed for the Right-hand side (drivers side on RHD vehicles), this caliper is manufactured to suit the ATE front braking system and is intended for use with vented front brake discs measuring 280mm diameter and 24mm thickness.

The caliper features a 57mm single piston in a floating caliper design, allowing even pressure to be applied to both brake pads during braking. This design helps maintain consistent braking performance while reducing uneven pad wear and brake judder.

Although sold individually, it is strongly recommended to replace front brake calipers in pairs. Changing both sides at the same time ensures balanced braking, consistent pedal feel, and reliable long-term operation.

How it works

When the brake pedal is pressed, hydraulic pressure pushes the piston inside the caliper outward, forcing the brake pads against the vented disc. The floating caliper design allows the caliper body to slide slightly, applying equal clamping force to both sides of the disc for smooth and effective braking.

For best results, we recommend fitting this caliper together with:

• New front brake pads

• Matching left-hand front brake caliper

• Cleaned or renewed caliper guide pins

• Correct ATE-compatible brake fluid, fully bled after installation
