T4 Front Brake Caliper (282mm Brake Discs) - Left (Lucus)

This front left brake caliper is a direct replacement for all Volkswagen Transporter T4 models fitted with PR code 1LP braking systems, covering vehicles from the start of production through to the end of production. On RHD vehicles, this caliper fits the passenger side (left-hand side) of the front axle.

Designed for 15-inch wheel brake setups, this caliper is manufactured to suit LUCAS braking systems and works with 282 mm solid front brake discs with an 18 mm thickness. It features a single 54 mm piston and a floating caliper design, restoring safe, predictable braking performance to original factory specification.

What this front brake caliper does

The front brake caliper converts hydraulic pressure from the braking system into mechanical clamping force. When you press the brake pedal, the piston pushes the inner brake pad against the disc while the floating caliper body slides to pull the outer pad into contact. This balanced action delivers strong, even braking force and consistent pedal feel.

• Brake hoses: Check for cracking or corrosion and replace if required

• Brake fluid: System must be bled after installation

Recommendation: For best braking balance and safety, it is strongly recommended to replace both front brake calipers at the same time.
