This complete right-hand bullet indicator assembly with a clear lens is a high-quality reproduction for early Volkswagen Splitscreen Buses produced up to 1964. Supplied as a full, ready-to-install unit, it includes the base, clear lens, seal and bulb holder, offering a clean, authentic look ideal for restorations or subtle custom builds.
This early bullet-style indicator was fitted to:
US-market Splitscreens from 1956 to 1961
European Splitscreens from 1958 to July 1963
Volkswagen abandoned semaphores at different times depending on the market. In March 1955, the US market switched to flashing indicators, while semaphores remained standard in most other countries until June 1960, when these bullet-style units replaced them.
From August 1961, the U.S. market replaced the bullet indicators with flat-faced “fish-eye” indicators, along with larger tail lamps. European and RoW markets didn’t adopt this change until August 1963, making this clear-lens bullet indicator correct for restorations of pre-1961 US buses and pre-1963 Euro buses depending on lens choice.
This assembly fits the right side (driver’s side on RHD models) and is built with accurate contours and quality materials suitable for show-level and factory-correct restorations.
