Baywindow Bus Inner Cab Door Handle - Left - 1968-73

This chrome interior door handle is a high-quality reproduction designed for all early Baywindow Buses from the start of production up to July 1973. Engineered to replicate the original early-style mechanism, this handle is specifically for the left-hand (passenger side) cab door on RHD models and restores the correct functionality and appearance to your classic VW’s interior.

Unlike later Baywindow handles—where a single combined lever and a top-mounted door pin control the lock—this early version uses the classic two-function layout, with the locking mechanism positioned above the opening handle. This makes it the correct choice for restorations where authenticity and original detail are essential, especially on early T2 models that retain the separate lock-and-pull-handle design.

Manufactured with a polished chrome finish, the handle not only updates a worn or pitted original but adds a clean, bright look to the cab interior. The robust internal mechanism ensures smooth operation of both the latch and locking functions, matching the feel of genuine early VW hardware.

For added compatibility, this handle is also used on Porsche 914 models built from January 1969 to January 1974, making it a versatile replacement part for multiple aircooled classics from the same era.

When fitting, you may require new mounting screws, a latch mechanism check, or a lubrication service to ensure your restored door handle functions at its best.
