This rear right-hand brake drum backing plate is a high-quality replacement for VW Splitscreen Buses produced from 1964 to 1967. The backing plate is a vital structural component of the rear drum brake assembly, providing the mounting base for the brake shoes, springs, adjusters and wheel cylinder. It also protects the braking system from debris, water and dirt—ensuring consistent, safe braking performance.
Original backing plates commonly suffer from corrosion, pitting or distortion, which can cause brake shoes to misalign, leading to poor braking efficiency or uneven wear. This OE-style replacement restores proper geometry and function, providing a reliable foundation for the rear drum assembly.
