This rear left-hand brake drum backing plate is a high-quality replacement for VW Splitscreen Buses built from 1964 to 1967. As a crucial part of the rear drum brake assembly, the backing plate supports the brake shoes, springs, wheel cylinder and adjusters, while shielding the braking components from dirt, water and debris. A corroded, weakened or distorted backing plate can cause shoe misalignment, uneven braking or reduced braking performance, making replacement essential for safe operation.
Manufactured to OE-style dimensions, this backing plate fits directly onto the rear left (RHD passenger side) and restores correct brake geometry and reliable braking performance. Ideal for restorations, brake rebuilds or replacing heavily rusted originals on late Splitscreen rear drums.
