This front left-hand brake backing plate is a high-quality replacement for all VW Splitscreen Buses from 1955 to 1963. The backing plate is an essential structural component of the front drum brake assembly, providing the mounting surface for the brake shoes, springs, adjusters and wheel cylinder. It also shields the brake mechanism from dirt, water and road debris, helping maintain consistent braking performance.
A worn, rusted or damaged backing plate can cause poor shoe alignment, dragging brakes, uneven wear or reduced stopping power. Replacing it ensures the braking system functions safely and correctly. This plate is manufactured to original dimensions for an accurate fit on the front left side (RHD passenger side).
