Baywindow Bus Front Brake Drum - 1968-70 (65mm Hub Seal)

This replacement front brake drum is specifically designed for all early Baywindow buses from 1968 to 1970, retaining the correct wide 5 stud pattern (5×205 PCD) as originally fitted. It is the correct solution for maintaining factory braking specification on early Baywindow models that continued using the wide-five wheel pattern before the later change to 5×112.

What the part does & how it works

The front brake drum forms the rotating braking surface for the front wheels. When the brake pedal is applied, hydraulic pressure pushes the brake shoes outward from the wheel cylinder so they press against the inside of the drum. The friction created slows the rotation of the drum and wheel, safely reducing vehicle speed.

A brake drum with correct internal dimensions and a smooth braking surface is essential for predictable stopping power, even shoe contact, and consistent pedal feel. This replacement drum is manufactured to original specifications, helping to eliminate brake judder, uneven braking, and premature shoe wear caused by worn or oval drums.

This drum is correct for early Baywindow models and should not be confused with Splitscreen drums, which use different hub seal arrangements.

Fitting notes

• Sold individually, however we always recommend replacing brake drums in pairs to maintain balanced braking across the front axle.

• Prior to installation, clean the inner braking surface thoroughly with brake cleaner, as the drum is coated with an anti-oxidising oil during manufacture to protect it in storage.

• While fitting, it is good practice to inspect brake shoes, wheel cylinders, return springs, and adjusters, replacing any worn components to ensure optimal braking performance.
