Baywindow Bus Rear Engine Mount - 1968-71 - Type 1 Engines

This engine support bar rubber mount is a good-quality reproduction designed for all Volkswagen Baywindow Buses built between 1968 and 1971, specifically the early models equipped with a removable rear valance. These rubber mounts fit to each end of the rear engine support bar (often called the moustache bar) and attach to the bodywork, securing the engine while isolating vibration and drivetrain movement.

Over time, original rubber mounts can soften, split, compress or completely fail—especially on air-cooled engines where heat, oil exposure and chassis movement are constant factors. Worn mounts allow the engine to sag or rock excessively, leading to drivetrain misalignment, clutch judder, increased cabin vibration and stress on gearbox mounts and tinware.

Replacing these mounts restores proper engine height and stability, ensuring the drivetrain remains correctly aligned and reducing strain on surrounding components. These reproduction mounts match the original design and rubber density, providing reliable support without excessive stiffness.
