This Engine Tin Over Gearbox Panel is a high-quality reproduction of the original piece fitted to early Baywindow Buses from 1968 to 1972 with the removable rear valance and Type 1 twin port engines. Mounted between the engine and the gearbox, this tinware panel plays a crucial role in maintaining correct engine cooling and compartment sealing by separating the hot exhaust area from the cool intake zone.
Over time, the original engine tin often becomes rusted, bent, or lost during previous engine removals, which can lead to overheating and poor engine performance. Installing this correctly formed replacement restores the engine bay’s integrity and ensures that the cooling fan draws only cold air from above the engine — exactly as Volkswagen intended.
This panel is designed specifically for twin port engines. For single port applications, use part number 211119517D.
