Thermostat Pushrod - Type 1 Engines

This Genuine Volkswagen Thermostat Pushrod is the correct factory linkage that connects the engine thermostat to the cooling flaps inside the fanshroud on all aircooled VW engines from 1200cc to 1600cc. It forms a critical part of the engine’s temperature control system, ensuring proper warm-up and consistent operating temperatures.

When the engine is cold, the thermostat contracts, pushing on this pushrod to close the cooling flaps, allowing the engine to heat up quickly. As the engine reaches operating temperature, the thermostat expands, pulling the rod downward to open the flaps, providing maximum airflow through the cylinder heads and oil cooler.
