G5,G6 Rear Brake Disc (255mm Solid)

This 255mm solid rear brake disc is a direct-replacement part for VW Golf Mk5 and Mk6 models fitted with the smaller factory rear disc setup. Manufactured to original VW specifications, it provides dependable rear braking performance, correct handbrake operation, and long service life, making it ideal for everyday road use and standard maintenance.

With a 10mm thickness, 5-stud fixing, and a protective coated finish, this disc is designed for vehicles identified by specific VW PR brake codes, ensuring accurate fitment.

Primary Fitment – VW Golf Mk5 & Mk6 (PR Code Specific)

VW Golf V (2003–2009)

PR Code: 1KD

  • Engines: 1.4, 1.6, 2.0 petrol

  • Diesels: 1.9 TDI, 2.0 TDI

VW Golf VI (2008–2016)

PR Code: 1KD

  • Engines: 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 petrol

  • Diesels: 1.6 TDI, 2.0 TDI

Mk5 and Mk6 Golfs were also available with larger rear discs (e.g. 282mm or 286mm). Always confirm PR code and disc diameter before ordering.

Why the 255mm Rear Disc Is Used

The 255mm solid rear disc is fitted to lower and mid-spec Mk5/Mk6 Golf models. While the front brakes handle most of the stopping force, these rear discs are essential for braking balance, stability under braking, and proper handbrake performance.
The solid disc design is robust and low maintenance, while the coated surface protects against corrosion on non-friction areas, extending service life.

Other Compatible Volkswagen Models & PR Codes

This rear brake disc is also fitted to the following VW models when equipped with the listed PR codes:

  • VW Beetle (5C) (2011–2019) – PR Codes 1KD, 1KQ, 1KU, 1KX, 1KS or 1KT

  • VW Eos (2006–2015) – PR Code 1KD

  • VW Golf Plus (2004–2014) – PR Code 1KD

  • VW Jetta IV (2010–2018) – PR Codes 1KD, 1KQ, 1KU, 1KW, 1KX or 1KY

  • VW Scirocco III (2008–2017) – PR Code 1KD

Brake specifications vary by engine, year, and market. Always check the PR code on the vehicle data sticker (service book or boot floor).

How the Rear Brake Disc Works

When braking, the rear caliper clamps the brake pads onto the rotating disc, creating friction that slows the rear wheels. Although rear brakes contribute less stopping force than the fronts, they are critical for vehicle stability, even pad wear, and effective handbrake operation on disc-equipped models.

RHD Fitment Notes

  • Fitting position: Rear axle

  • Suitable for both right-hand (driver’s side) and left-hand (passenger side) rear positions on right-hand-drive vehicles

Recommended Additional Parts

For best results and safe braking performance, we recommend fitting:

  • New rear brake pads

  • Rear brake caliper fitting hardware (where required)

  • New caliper carrier bolts if specified

Rear brake discs should always be replaced in axle pairs to ensure even braking and correct handbrake function.
