G3,G4 Rear Brake Caliper (For Use On 226x10mm Discs) - Right

This rear right brake caliper is a direct-fit replacement for vehicles running 226mm x 10mm solid rear brake discs with the Lucas/TRW braking system. On right-hand-drive (RHD) cars this is the drivers side rear caliper (right side of the vehicle). It’s a single-piston floating caliper designed to deliver stable, even braking while also working with the rear handbrake mechanism commonly integrated into this style of caliper.

A rear caliper converts your brake pedal pressure into clamping force. When you press the pedal, hydraulic pressure pushes the 38mm piston outward, forcing the inner pad against the disc. Because this is a sliding (floating) caliper, the caliper body then moves on its guide pins to pull the outer pad into the disc as well, clamping both pads evenly. This floating design helps the pads wear evenly and keeps braking smooth and predictable.

If your existing caliper is seized, leaking, sticking on its sliders, or causing uneven pad wear, replacing it will restore proper braking balance and help prevent overheating and premature disc/pad wear. It’s especially important on the rear axle, where a dragging caliper can quickly damage discs, cook pads, and overwork wheel bearings.

For best results (and to avoid repeat labour), it’s wise to check/renew these at the same time:

• Rear brake pads (replace as an axle set)

• Rear brake discs 226x10mm (replace in pairs)

• Caliper slider/guide pin kit & rubber boots (if pins are worn or boots split)

• Brake hose (especially if cracked, bulging, or old)

• Handbrake cable condition (stiff cables can mimic a sticking caliper)

• Copper sealing washers/banjo washers (if your hose fitting type uses them)

• Fresh brake fluid & proper bleeding after installation
