Beetle Front Brake Drum - 1965-67 (Also Karmann Ghia)

This replacement front brake drum is a direct-fit solution for Volkswagen Beetles and Karmann Ghias built from August 1965 to August 1967, during a unique period of front suspension design. These models were the first to use ball joint front suspension—a significant improvement in ride and handling over the earlier king and link pin setup—yet retained the classic Wide 5 bolt pattern (5x205mm PCD) for wheels.

This high-quality reproduction drum is manufactured from strong cast steel, machined to precise tolerances for consistent brake performance, longevity, and a true fit on the spindle. It’s a great option whether you`re replacing worn original components or upgrading to restore authentic braking characteristics on a vintage VW.

For those with a later 4-stud model, this drum can be used to convert your front brakes to wide 5 by fitting it along with later 1968 onwards style front wheel bearings.

Each drum is sold individually, but it`s always recommended to replace drums in pairs to avoid imbalanced braking and uneven wear. Additionally, always clean the inner braking surface thoroughly with brake cleaner before installation, as the drums are coated in a light anti-corrosion oil from the factory that can impair brake performance if left in place.

Note: This drum is designed for drum brake systems only—not for use with disc brake conversions. It fits both standard height and lowered front ends, making it suitable for stock restorations, Bajas, Buggies, and custom builds.
