1302 + 1303 Beetle Steering Damper

This brand new replacement steering damper is specifically designed to fit VW 1302 and 1303 Beetles (also known as Super Beetles) produced between 1971 and 1979. Manufactured by COFAP, an original equipment supplier to Volkswagen, this damper delivers OE-level quality and performance to restore smooth, controlled steering to your classic VW.

The steering damper acts like a shock absorber for your steering system, helping to reduce kickback, vibrations, and bump steer—especially important on the MacPherson strut front suspension used in Super Beetles. A worn or leaking damper can lead to wandering, vague steering, and an overall decrease in driving comfort.

This COFAP damper features:

• Closed length: 300mm (eye to eye)

• Extended length: 435mm (eye to eye)

It is a direct-fit replacement for all 1302 and 1303 models but will not fit standard Beetles (torsion bar front suspension). Installation is straightforward, and we recommend inspecting the mounting bushes and bolts during installation for wear or damage.
