The original needle roller bearing located at the bottom of the steering column on all Volkswagen Beetle 1302 and 1303 models produced before 1974 is now obsolete and no longer available. To solve this, Classic VW has developed a high-quality self-lubricating Nylatron bush as a direct replacement.
This precision-engineered Nylatron steering column bush is designed to fit snugly into the base of the steering column tube, providing smooth, consistent steering performance without the need for grease or ongoing maintenance. Unlike the original metal roller bearing, the Nylatron material is self-lubricating, ensuring long-lasting, silent operation and improved resistance to wear, dirt, and moisture.
Once installed, this bush eliminates play in the lower steering column, restoring the crisp, responsive steering feel these models are known for. It’s a simple, cost-effective, and permanent upgrade for any 1302 or 1303 Beetle still using the original bearing setup.
Features:
Direct replacement for obsolete needle roller bearing
Manufactured from self-lubricating Nylatron – no maintenance required
Restores steering precision and reduces column play
Resistant to wear, corrosion, and moisture
