Beetle 10 Pole Fuse Box - 1966-71 (With Cover)

This high-quality replacement fuse box features 10 torpedo-style fuse holders, designed as a direct replacement for the factory-fitted fuse block used on Volkswagen Beetles and Karmann Ghias from 1966 to 1971. Built to OEM specifications, it provides reliable electrical distribution and protection for all your vehicle’s essential circuits, including lighting, ignition, wipers, horn, and accessories.

This unit is engineered to accept the classic ceramic torpedo fuses, ensuring it works exactly as intended with the vehicle’s original wiring system. Electrical continuity and load distribution remain identical to the original, safeguarding your wiring loom while maintaining full compatibility with factory schematics. The fuse terminals are precision-formed for excellent contact, reducing the risk of heat build-up or intermittent faults in aged wiring systems.

A protective fuse-box cover is supplied to shield the fuses from dirt, moisture, and accidental contact behind the dashboard. This is especially important on RHD models, where access under the dash can be tight on the passenger (left) side.
Although designed specifically for Beetles and Ghias, it can also be installed on Type 3 models. Fitment to a Type 3 requires the unit to be clipped into place rather than screwed, replicating the original mounting style without modification to the body.

What the Part Does

A fuse box acts as the main electrical safety hub for your classic VW, protecting individual circuits from overloads, shorts, or wiring faults. When a circuit exceeds its designed current draw, the torpedo fuse melts and breaks the connection, preventing damage to wiring, switches and electrical components. This replacement unit restores safe electrical distribution, ideal for vehicles being restored, rewired, or suffering from brittle or corroded original fuse panels.

Installation Notes & Additional Parts That May Be Required

  • Fuses are not included and must be purchased separately — choose ceramic torpedo fuses to match your vehicle’s year-specific amperage ratings.

  • Ensure correct orientation when installing into the loom, especially on RHD models where wiring lengths and routing differ subtly from LHD variants.

  • You may also wish to replace:

    • aged fuse-box connectors

    • brittle wiring terminals

    • the main wiring loom if suffering corrosion or overheating damage

  • No modification required for Beetle or Karmann Ghia installation.

  • For Type 3 installation, the fuse box must be clipped into place rather than screwed, matching the original factory style.

This top-quality replacement fuse box is the ideal solution to restore electrical reliability and original functionality to your classic air-cooled Volkswagen.
