Beetle Rear Valance - 1968-74

This Replacement Rear Valance is a flat-style panel designed for VW Beetles from August 1967 onwards that were originally equipped with the shorter-style engine deck lid. It is a reproduction of the factory rear valance used up until July 1974, before Volkswagen introduced the larger `bulge` style valance in later models.

Positioned below the engine lid at the rear of the car, the valance forms a key part of the engine bay enclosure and rear bodywork. It also plays a role in airflow management and shielding the engine compartment from road debris and dirt. This flat version offers a cleaner, more classic appearance, making it a popular retrofit choice for later Beetles, particularly during custom or restoration projects where a sleeker rear-end look is desired.

This panel is made to original specifications, providing a direct weld-in replacement for damaged or rusted-out valances. It may require slight adjustment or trimming depending on the model year and condition of surrounding panels. It fits all post-1967 Beetles with the short deck lid, including those originally equipped with the bulge-style valance, if a backdate look is preferred.

Fitment Note:

  • Suitable for all Beetles from August 1967 onwards

  • Ideal for backdating later cars to early flat valance style
  • Welding required for installation
