This pair of heat exchanger elbows is designed to fit all Volkswagen Baywindow Campervans from 1972 to 1979 equipped with 1700cc, 1800cc, or 2000cc Type 4 “pancake-style” engines, as well as VW Type 25 (T3) Buses from 1980 to 1983 with 2000cc aircooled engines. These robust metal elbows form a critical link in the heating system, channeling warm air from the engine-mounted heat exchangers through to the vehicle`s main heater pipes located on the chassis.
Made from durable materials and finished to a good quality standard, these elbows ensure reliable airflow and help maintain proper cabin heating in colder conditions. The precise bends and correct sizing ensure a snug, secure fit with the surrounding components.
Important Fitment Note: These elbows are not compatible with US-spec heat exchangers, which differ in outlet design. These are intended for use with European and non-US heat exchanger setups only.
Installation Tip: These elbows locate between the heat exchangers and the heater control flaps or chassis pipes. It’s recommended to inspect and, if necessary, replace any perished rubber seals or clamps for a tight, leak-free fit. These are usually reused but replacements are available if needed.
