Heat Exchanger Elbow - Right - Type 4 Engines

This good quality heat exchanger elbow is designed for all VW Baywindow Campers from 1972 to 1979 fitted with 1700cc, 1800cc or 2000cc Type 4 (pancake) engines, as well as VW Type 25 Buses from 1980 to 1983 fitted with the 2000cc aircooled engine.

Mounted on the right-hand side (RHD driver’s side), this elbow connects the heat exchanger to the main hot air pipe on the chassis. It plays a crucial role in delivering warmed air from the engine to the front heating system. Over time these elbows rust, crack or become detached, resulting in heat loss, fumes entering the cabin or a complete failure of the heating system. Replacing it ensures proper airflow and safe, effective heating.

This elbow is manufactured to OE-style dimensions for an accurate fit on all European-spec Type 4 heating systems.
Note: This version does not fit US-spec heat exchangers, which have a different connection arrangement.
