G1,G4,T4 3 Bolt Exhaust Gasket - Front Exhaust Pipe To CAT

This front exhaust pipe gasket is designed to seal the joint between the front downpipe and the main exhaust system. It plays a critical role in maintaining correct exhaust pressure, reducing noise, and preventing harmful exhaust gases from escaping at the flange connection.

Manufactured from high-temperature resistant material, the gasket compresses between the mating faces of the exhaust flanges. As the system heats and cools, the gasket absorbs movement and vibration while maintaining a tight seal. A failing gasket will typically cause a blowing exhaust noise, visible soot marks, reduced engine efficiency, and possible MOT failure due to emissions leaks.

This gasket is commonly used across a wide range of classic Volkswagen petrol models, from early watercooled platforms through to later Transporter T4 models, as well as Mexican Beetles fitted with catalytic converter rear silencers.

When fitting, always check the condition of the exhaust flanges, bolts, springs, and clamps. Corroded hardware or warped flanges will prevent correct sealing and may cause premature failure of the new gasket.
