This “040” twin port cylinder head is a high-quality reproduction engineered to fit 1600cc VW Type 1 aircooled engines and is ideal for performance rebuilds, daily drivers, and off-road applications. Featuring upgraded stainless steel valves, this head delivers improved durability and heat resistance—perfect for aircooled engines that see frequent use or higher loads.
This cylinder head includes:
35.5mm inlet valves
32mm exhaust valves
8mm valve stems
53cc combustion chamber volume
M14x1.25×16 spark plug thread (requires long-reach W8CC spark plugs)
94mm cylinder bore compatibility (Standard 1500cc/1600cc bore)

Originally designed for Type 1 engines, this head can also be used on VW Type 25 / T3 Buses with 1600cc CT engines, provided you convert to Type 1-style 1600cc barrels and pistons. The twin port design ensures better airflow and combustion efficiency compared to earlier single-port heads, making this a great choice for enhanced drivability and reliability.
