040 Twin Port Cylinder Head - 1600cc (35.5mm X 32mm Valves) - Autolinea

This Auto Linea 040 twin port cylinder head is supplied complete with valves and valve springs installed and is designed for Volkswagen aircooled Type 1 engines. The cylinder head forms the combustion chamber and contains the valves and ports that control airflow into and out of the engine. The size of the combustion chamber and valves directly affects compression ratio, engine temperature and performance.

This version features 35.5mm inlet valves and 32mm exhaust valves with 8mm valve stems, making it ideal for standard 1600cc engines as well as larger performance engines. The head is machined for up to 94mm cylinders, meaning it can be used on engines from 1600cc up to 1915cc and larger stroker engines depending on the engine build.

This particular version has a 51cc combustion chamber, which is smaller than the standard 55–58cc chambers and therefore increases compression ratio, improving performance and efficiency when used with the correct engine setup. It uses short reach spark plugs (M14 x 1.25 x 11mm).

The 040 casting features improved cooling fins and improved port design over earlier heads, helping engines run cooler and produce more power. Being supplied complete with valves and springs makes this head ready to install.

When fitting these heads, it is recommended to also fit new pushrod tubes, rocker cover gaskets, cylinder head nuts and washers, and a full engine gasket set.
