G4 Dipstick Tube Guide - 1.9 TDI

The oil dipstick guide tube is the plastic tube that the engine oil dipstick slides into, guiding the dipstick down into the engine sump so the oil level can be checked accurately. The guide tube also seals the dipstick opening and prevents dirt, moisture and debris from entering the engine oil system.

These plastic guide tubes become brittle over time due to engine heat and age and are very commonly broken during servicing when the dipstick is removed. A cracked or broken dipstick tube can allow dirt into the engine oil, cause inaccurate oil level readings, or allow oil vapour to escape from the engine.

This replacement dipstick guide tube is supplied in orange plastic and is a direct replacement for the original part fitted to many Volkswagen 1.9 Diesel and 1.9 TDI engines. It simply pushes into the engine block and the dipstick slides inside it.

When replacing the dipstick tube, it is recommended to check the condition of the dipstick, sump, oil level sensor (if fitted) and breather system, as these all relate to the engine oil system.
