G4 Oil Sump (With Oil Level Sensor Hole) - 1.8 Turbo

This aluminium oil sump is fitted to the bottom of the engine and acts as the oil reservoir for the engine lubrication system. Engine oil is stored in the sump and drawn up through the oil pickup pipe by the oil pump, then circulated around the engine to lubricate internal components such as crankshaft bearings, pistons, camshaft and valve gear before draining back into the sump. The aluminium construction also helps dissipate heat from the engine oil, helping maintain correct oil temperature.

This version of the sump includes the bore for the oil level sensor, used on models equipped with an electronic oil level warning system. If your vehicle has an oil level sensor fitted to the sump, this is the correct version required. Common reasons for replacing the sump include damage from road impact, corrosion, stripped sump plug threads, oil leaks from the gasket surface, or damaged oil level sensor mounting threads.

When replacing the oil sump, it is recommended to fit new sump sealant or gasket, new sump bolts, and a new sump plug washer. It is also advisable to check the oil pickup pipe for blockage and inspect or replace the oil level sensor seal when transferring the sensor to the new sump.
