G4 Rocker Cover Breather Hose - 1.9 TDI

This breather hose connects the oil separator to the crankcase ventilation valve on Volkswagen 1.9 Diesel and 1.9 TDI engines. The breather system is designed to remove pressure and oil vapour from inside the engine and recirculate it back into the intake system to be burned during combustion. This reduces emissions, prevents pressure build-up inside the engine and helps control oil leaks.

The breather hose is made from plastic and is exposed to constant heat and oil vapour, which means it can become brittle, crack or split over time. A damaged breather hose can cause oil leaks, excessive crankcase pressure, oil contamination around the engine, rough running, whistling noises, or increased smoke from the exhaust. A failed breather system can also cause rocker cover gasket leaks due to pressure build-up in the engine.

When replacing this hose, it is recommended to also check the oil separator (breather unit), crankcase ventilation valve and rocker cover gasket, as these components all work together as part of the crankcase ventilation system.
