G3 Crankshaft Sensor - 2.0

This 3 pin crankshaft sensor is a replacement engine speed and position sensor for selected VW 2.0 petrol models. It reads the rotational position and speed of the crankshaft and sends this signal to the ECU, allowing the ignition and fuel injection systems to fire at the correct time. Without a clean crankshaft signal, the engine management system cannot accurately control spark and fuelling.

A faulty crankshaft sensor can cause non-starting, cutting out when hot, intermittent stalling, misfiring, poor running, or no rev counter signal. Because the ECU depends on this sensor to know where the crankshaft is in its cycle, even an intermittent fault can cause sudden loss of spark or injector pulse. Replacing a failing sensor restores a reliable timing signal and helps cure hard starting and erratic running faults.

This sensor has a black housing, 3 pin connection, and 515mm cable length. When fitting, check the sensor plug, wiring condition, mounting point, and trigger wheel area for damage or contamination. It is also worth checking for stored fault codes and inspecting related engine loom wiring if the old sensor has failed intermittently.
