This radiator hose connects the engine outlet to the oil cooler housing and water pump assembly on 2.0 petrol (8 valve) engines. It forms a key part of the cooling circuit, ensuring coolant flows correctly between the cylinder block, oil cooler and water pump for stable operating temperature.
What Does This Hose Do?
On 2.0 petrol engines, coolant leaves the engine and passes through the oil cooler housing before being circulated by the water pump. This hose:
• Transfers coolant from the engine to the oil cooler
• Allows coolant to absorb excess oil heat
• Feeds coolant back into the water pump for recirculation
• Maintains correct engine temperature under load
If this hose becomes soft, cracked or internally restricted, it can lead to coolant leaks, overheating, poor heater performance or fluctuating temperature readings.
