G3 Thermostat Housing - 1.6

This complete thermostat housing assembly is a direct replacement unit supplied with thermostat and integrated thermoswitch, making it an ideal all-in-one solution when servicing or repairing the cooling system on selected VW petrol engines. By renewing the housing, thermostat, and switch together, you eliminate common leak points and electrical faults in one job.

The thermostat inside the housing regulates coolant flow based on engine temperature. When the engine is cold, coolant circulation is restricted to allow fast warm-up. As operating temperature is reached, the thermostat opens and allows coolant to flow through the radiator to control heat. The integrated thermoswitch monitors coolant temperature and sends signals to the engine management or cooling fan system, ensuring the fan cuts in at the correct time to prevent overheating.

Thermostat housings are prone to cracking, warping, and seal failure with age and heat cycles. A failed housing can cause coolant leaks, overheating, incorrect fan operation, or warning lights.
