This coolant hose connects the thermostat housing to the intake manifold, allowing heated coolant to circulate correctly through the engine once the thermostat opens. It plays a key role in stabilising engine temperature and supporting proper warm-up and heater performance.
Over time, coolant hoses can harden, crack, swell, or split due to age, heat cycles, and coolant degradation. Failure of this hose often results in coolant leaks around the thermostat area, loss of coolant, overheating, or poor heater output. Replacing tired hoses is essential preventative maintenance, especially on older VW petrol engines.
This hose is moulded to the correct original shape to ensure proper routing and a secure, leak-free fit without kinking.
Fitting notes: Always check the condition of hose clips and replace if corroded. Inspect the thermostat housing and intake manifold connections for corrosion or damage. Refill with the correct coolant and bleed the cooling system after installation.
