This high-output 2.2 kW starter motor is designed specifically for VW T5 2.5 TDI engines with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Built to handle the higher compression and starting loads of the 5-cylinder TDI, it delivers fast, consistent cranking for reliable cold and hot starts.

A tired starter on these engines often shows as slow cranking, clicking, or intermittent non-start—issues that are amplified in cold weather. Replacing with the correct 2.2 kW unit restores factory starting performance and correct engagement with the flywheel.

Important: This starter is for 6-speed manual transmissions only. It is not suitable for 5-speed or automatic gearboxes.
