G3,G4 Starter Motor - 1.9 Diesel

This high-torque starter motor is designed for VW 1.9 diesel engines with a manual gearbox, delivering reliable cranking power for higher-compression diesel applications. With a 1.8kW output and a dual pinion configuration (10 / 11 teeth), it matches original factory specifications used across a wide range of VW platforms from the mid-1990s through to the mid-2000s.

Diesel engines demand significantly more from the starter motor, especially during cold starts. Worn starters often cause slow cranking, clicking, or intermittent no-start faults. This unit restores fast engagement with the flywheel ring gear and consistent starting performance.

Important: Manual transmission vehicles only. Not suitable for automatic gearboxes.

How it works

When the ignition is turned, the solenoid engages the pinion gear with the flywheel while supplying power to the motor. The high-output motor spins the engine fast enough for compression ignition before disengaging automatically once the engine fires.
