G3 Crankshaft Pulse Sensor - 1.9 Diesel

This high-quality crankshaft pulse sensor (also known as a crankshaft position sensor or engine speed sensor) is a direct replacement for a wide range of Volkswagen 1.7D, 1.9D, 1.9TD and 1.9TDI diesel engines. The sensor provides the ECU with precise rotational and position data from the crankshaft, allowing accurate fuel delivery, correct injection timing and smooth engine operation.

This unit is an inductive sensor, meaning it generates its own signal using a magnetic field and a toothed reluctor wheel on the crankshaft. Inductive sensors are highly reliable and resistant to heat, vibration and contamination—ideal for diesel engines. A failing crankshaft pulse sensor commonly causes symptoms such as non-starting, intermittent stalling, poor running, cutting out when hot or irregular idle speed.

The sensor features a 3-pin connector, 540mm cable length, and comes complete with its wiring lead, allowing easy installation into the original engine harness. It mounts directly in place of the factory sensor with no modification required.

When replacing this sensor, it is good practice to inspect the wiring loom for brittleness, check for oil contamination around the mounting point and ensure the reluctor wheel is clean and undamaged.
