G3 Timing Belt Relay Roller - 1.9 Diesel

This camshaft timing belt idler pulley is used in the timing belt system on Volkswagen 1.9 diesel engines to guide and support the timing belt as it runs between the crankshaft, camshaft, and tensioner. While it does not apply tension itself, the idler pulley plays a critical role in maintaining correct belt alignment and smooth, stable belt operation.

The pulley runs on a sealed bearing designed to cope with constant rotation and high engine temperatures. Over time, the bearing can wear or become noisy, increasing drag on the timing belt and placing additional strain on the belt and tensioner. A seized or rough idler pulley can rapidly damage a new timing belt and lead to incorrect valve timing or engine failure.
