This lower crankshaft timing gear (timing belt pulley) is a direct replacement for a wide range of Volkswagen diesel and turbo-diesel engines, ensuring accurate timing belt drive from the crankshaft. Correct crank timing is essential for synchronising the camshaft and injection pump, maintaining smooth running, correct combustion, and long-term engine reliability.

Over time, crankshaft timing gears can wear on the teeth or keyway, leading to poor belt alignment, increased belt wear, timing inaccuracies, or potential engine damage. Replacing the gear during a timing belt service is strongly recommended, particularly on higher-mileage diesel engines.
