T4,G3,G4 Crankshaft Timing Gear - 1999-03 - 1.9 Turbo Diesel (ABL)

This crankshaft timing belt gear is a precision-machined replacement for Volkswagen 1.9 Diesel and Turbo Diesel engines, designed to drive the timing belt directly from the crankshaft. It ensures accurate valve timing by synchronising the crankshaft with the camshaft and injection pump, which is critical for correct combustion, smooth running, and long-term engine reliability.

Worn or damaged crank timing gears can lead to timing belt misalignment, accelerated belt wear, incorrect injection timing, or even catastrophic engine damage. This replacement gear restores correct tooth engagement and timing accuracy, making it an essential component during timing belt replacement or engine rebuilds.

Manufactured to original specifications, this gear features 22 teeth and is suitable for timing belt–driven engines only. It is intended for later ABL 1.9 Turbo Diesel engines, from engine number ABL 234299 onwards, as fitted to late VW T4 Transporter models.
