G3 Oil Dipstick Guide - 1.9 Diesel

This replacement oil dipstick guide funnel is designed for a wide range of Volkswagen 1.9 diesel engines, providing a secure and accurate channel for the dipstick as it enters the engine block. Made from durable, heat-resistant orange plastic, this funnel ensures that the dipstick sits correctly in the sump tube assembly, preventing misreading of oil levels and avoiding damage from a poorly aligned or unsupported dipstick.

Over time, the original funnel can become brittle due to engine heat, vibration and age. Cracking or breaking in this area is extremely common on the 1.9 diesel engine family, especially where the dipstick tube is handled frequently during servicing. A damaged funnel can allow dirt or debris to enter the dipstick channel or cause the dipstick to sit incorrectly, leading to inaccurate oil-level readings that may result in overfilling or running low on oil—both hazardous for these engines.

This guide funnel simply clips into place on the upper dipstick tube and requires no special tools to install. When replacing it, we recommend inspecting the lower metal dipstick tube for corrosion and ensuring the dipstick seal is still flexible and intact.
