T25,T4,G1,G2 Alternator (65A) - Waterboxer Engines (1990-95 - AAC,PD)

This 65 amp alternator is a standard replacement charging unit designed to restore reliable electrical performance across a wide range of classic and early water-cooled Volkswagen models. Producing a steady 65 amps, it ensures the battery remains fully charged while supplying consistent power to essential systems such as ignition, lighting, cooling fans, wipers, heater blowers and auxiliary electrics.

The alternator works by converting mechanical energy from the engine into electrical energy via the drive belt and pulley system. As engine speed increases, the internal rotor and stator generate alternating current, which is then rectified into direct current to safely charge the battery and support the vehicle’s electrical load. This unit is built to OEM-style specifications, making it ideal for everyday driving, restorations, or replacing a tired original alternator.

Designed with a bolt-on electrical connection, this alternator connects directly to the existing wiring loom, keeping installation straightforward with no rewiring required. It is intended for vehicles using a flat pulley system only. In many cases, the original pulley must be reused to ensure correct belt alignment and charging performance.

For T25 models with DG engines, the existing pulley must be removed and reused along with the spacer supplied on the new alternator to achieve the correct belt position.

Fitting Notes & Requirements

• T25 DG engines: Reuse original pulley and fit spacer from new alternator
