T25,T4,G1 Water Pump Gasket

This water pump gasket seals the joint between the water pump and the engine block or housing on a wide range of Volkswagen water-cooled petrol and diesel engines. Its role is to create a coolant-tight seal at one of the most critical points in the cooling system, preventing leaks while allowing proper circulation of coolant through the engine.

Whenever a water pump is removed or replaced, this gasket must always be renewed. Reusing an old gasket almost always results in coolant seepage once the engine heats and cools through normal operating cycles.

What the gasket does and how it works

The gasket sits between the machined face of the water pump and the engine block or pump housing. When tightened evenly, it compresses to fill microscopic surface imperfections, stopping coolant escaping under pressure. A failed gasket can cause:

• Coolant leaks around the pump

• Overheating due to coolant loss

• Corrosion on the block or housing mating faces
