Type 25 Alternator Bracket - Waterboxer Engines (90AMP Alternators)

This metal alternator mounting bracket is designed specifically for 90 Amp alternators fitted to Volkswagen Type 25 (T3) buses with Waterboxer engines. It provides the correct support and alignment required to securely mount the higher-output alternator, ensuring stable belt tracking and long-term reliability.

As Waterboxer models evolved, many vehicles were fitted with 90A alternators to handle increased electrical demand from additional accessories. These alternators require a dedicated bracket to position the unit correctly relative to the crankshaft pulley. Using the correct bracket is essential to avoid belt misalignment, vibration, premature belt wear, or alternator bearing damage.

Manufactured from strong steel, this bracket bolts directly to the engine using the original mounting points and holds the alternator firmly under load. It is ideal for replacing corroded, cracked or missing original brackets, or when upgrading to a 90 Amp alternator on compatible engines.

How it works

The bracket acts as the structural mounting point for the alternator, maintaining precise alignment with the drive pulley. This ensures even belt tension, smooth operation, and consistent charging performance. A solid bracket also helps absorb engine vibration, protecting both the alternator and belt system.
